Long Island Map 1933

This beautiful 1933 pictorial map of Long Island covers an area spreading from Brooklyn to the Hamptons and shows a series of landmarks such as the Montauk Lighthouse, the beach at Southampton, and the Fire Island Light. Various illustrations include a striped bass, a swordfish, a spouting whale, and the Sag Harbor Whaler ship. The borders are adorned with intricate drawings of underwater scenes, famous sites such as the birthplace of John Howard Payne and East Hampton, and historical scenes which include the settlement of Brooklyn, the building of Brooklyn Bridge, and the opening of the first railroad in 1836. Symbols indicate radio stations, state parks, ferry lines, and small light houses. Also included are a compass rose and an Art Deco wind figure.
